Following the Student-Centered Teaching and Learning Method Seminar on May 14th, 2012, Assumption College English Program is pleased to welcome Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supit Karnjanapun, the Program Director of Graduate School of Education from Assumption University to be another honourable guest speaker of today (May 15th, 2012) in the 3rd Floor Library Conference Room of the Saint Louis-Marie Memorial Building.

The training provided foreign teachers the knowledge of ‘good teaching’, how to integrate ‘good teaching techniques’ in Microteaching and to be able to assess and evaluate the microteaching. During the session, the foreign teachers divided in a group by content group to do the presentation in front of their colleagues.

At the end of the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supit Karnjanapun gave an honour to distribute certificates to foreign teachers who completed the Training Session.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supit Karnjanapun earned the Ph.D. (Educational Media & Technology) at the University of Missouri, Columbia, U.S.A and the M.Ed. (Audio-visual Communications) at Chulalongkorn University.

The Student-Centered Teaching and Learning Method Seminar was held by Ms. Ratana Rasmimariya, EP/BELL/ENS Personnel on May 14-15, 2012.

On Monday the 14th of May 2012, The Human Resources Department of the Assumption College English Program hosted a seminar on “Student-Centered Teaching and Learning Methods” for our foreign teachers from BELL, ENS and the English Program in the 3rd Floor Library Conference Room of the Saint Louis-Marie Memorial Building. Bro. Pisutr Vapiso, the Director of the Assumption College English Program (Rama 2) and Head of EP for the Primary and Secondary Sections in Bangkok, gave an opening speech and warmly welcomed the honourable guest speaker, Asst. Prof. Dr. Richard Lynch, an instructor of the Graduate School of Education at Assumption University.

On this occasion, Bro. Pisutr Vapiso informed the foreign teachers of the sad news that Mr. Simeón Chalerm Prichavudhi, who was the father of Assumption College Director Bro. Anant Prichavudhi, passed away on Tuesday the 8th of May 2012. We all shared our director’s grief over his loss.

After the seminar began, Asst. Prof. Dr. Richard Lynch lectured on Learning Theory for our foreign teachers in order to enhance their teaching methods and strategies. Moreover, they seminar covered Teacher-centered vs. Student-centered Education, Learner-centered instructional Strategies/Activities and Assessment for Learning vs. Assessment of Learning.

During the seminar, teachers had a chance to separate in groups to discuss the definition of learning, the process involved in learning and exchanged ideas about how teachers might assess whether learning has actually occurred.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Richard Lynch earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology from The Rossier School of Education at The University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He also got an M.A. in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois.
