Jose Thottiyil, the Vicar General of Saint Gabriel of the Central Administrative Office in Rome, Italy visiting our school.  The welcome ceremony was set up in order to give both Brothers a very warm welcome for their special visit. The welcome assembly gave an impression of the warmest welcome and gladness from the audience of director counselors, representatives of Parents Committee, teachers, and school staff. Students from M1-M3 and EP-M1-M3 of Assumption College were also present. After that, the President of the Student Council and the President of Catholic Student’ Council presented nice flower chains to both honored Brothers followed by a welcome speech in both Thai and English from the student representative. Yet, Brother Pisutr Vapiso, the Head of English Program and the Vice Director and Brother Thinnakorn Boonsawang , the Vice Director, the representatives, gave special bouquets to Rev. Bro. Renѐ expressed his gratitude to everyone and his positive impression of school developments, in its new constructions, organization, management and and the standard of AC students. With great kindness, much insight and experience their philosophy may be summed up like this:

“As we live in a world where there are many challenges and the challenges become bigger and bigger everyday then we have to be well prepared to face life and all the challenges that await all of us.

As students pass through the months and years of their school life, they need to develop their personality to be a man, to contribute to the well-being of people that they are in contact with, and contribute to the well-being of your neighborhood, community and the well-being of the whole world.

Each one of you has a very special mission in this world… each one has a special time. You are called to take up your responsibilities and to live up to those responsibilities and to make sure all your school years prepare you well. One way to prepare yourself is to develop your talents and your personality so you can be good and decent men who can contribute to the country.

Try to grab every opportunity that is offered to you by the school to develop those talents. You enrich yourself and you can enrich all people who are in contact with you.

Finally, try to develop a beautiful relationship with all people who come in contact with. Develop good relationships, be redemptive to the less privileged people and be especially caring for those who have fewer chances in life and who need your help.” – Rev. Bro. Renѐ Delorme

Brother Renѐ also further expressed his gratitude to everyone who is involved with the school, the Brothers, teachers, students, and other members of staff involved in daily collaboration within the whole Assumption College community.

At the very end of the special assembly, both Brothers-Rev. Bro. Rene Delorme and Rev. Bro. Jose Thottiyil were photographed with our Brothers, the teachers and parent’s representatives including student representatives. Both brothers joined the audience to greet and meet the teachers and the students of Assumption College.

A New H.O.C. for English Has Just Been Appointed! Print

Hello, my name is William Barnes. I am the new Head of the English Content Group. I have been teaching at Assumption College for two years now. Before that, I had been teaching for another 5 years, both in Thailand and New Zealand.

As well as making sure that the teachers in the English Content Group are able to do the best job possible, I also hope to continue to raise the profile of English as a subject amongst the students. Thanks to the good work of the previous Heads of Content, English is already seen as very important but through competitions (like the poetry, creative writing and Mothers' Day contests) the Cambridge exams (KET and PET) and other initiatives in class, I believe we can make the students in the English Program even more enthusiastic about English, the international language.
