On Friday the 16th of July 2010, the Student Affairs Department, together with the Content Group of Social Studies, Religion and Culture, held the Buddhist Lent Ceremony for the year 2010, which was attended by groups of teachers, parents, and student representatives from the Ordinary Program and English Program. The M1-M3’s candle procession began with the AC BAND, and featured decorated large candles with representatives marching from our school to 2 temples. The M5's and 6’s parade began with a Thai Tom-Tom group providing entertainment along the route from school to Muang Kae Temple. Mr Prayad Ketkhao, a Senior Teacher of the Public Relations Division, presided over the ceremony and Mr Siri Babphir, a Social Studies teacher, acted as the leader of the ceremony at Wat Suan Ploo (Sun Ploo Temple). At Wat Muang Kae (Muang Kae Temple), Mr. Suchart Pinthuruk, the Head of the Service Department, presided over the ceremony, and he was followed by Mr Akemongkon Sanguanman, a Social Studies teacher who led the ceremony. Both temples received donations, with the total amount from our representatives reaching THB 31,260 at the end. Assumption College would like to thank our teachers, parents and students for their recent support and we appreciate all kind intentions as shown through your sacrifice for our community celebration and for our school. We in the English Program are always concerned with the importance of Buddhism, and support its traditions as Thailand’s fundamental religious basis. We will maintain our worthwhile culture through unique traditions which we cannot find elsewhere.
