On the 28th of July 2010, after the morning assembly, Assumption College held a ceremony to recognize the great virtue of Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Monfort. The President of the Catholic students thoroughly described Saint Monfort’s life history, and the graceful ode was addressed by the President of the Assumption students. Brother Anant Prichavudhi, Director of Assumption College, also kindly gave lessons to the students by taking an example of Saint Monfort’s life path, as a lesson for helping others and being generous, in order that students could adapt this to their lives. At the conclusion, Brother Anant asked the students to concentrate on their education achievement as a benefit which would stay with them throughout their lives.
Saint Louis-Marie Grignion De Monfort's Biography (in brief)
Saint Louis-Marie Grignion De Monfort was born on the 31st of January 1673, in the small town of Monfort-Sur-Meu in France. He decided to go into the priesthood, and also became a preacher later. He kept raising up the inspiration among the people, and persuaded many people to proclaim the merits of Christ. He also established 3 priesthoods, including: The Brothers of St. Gabriel, The Daughters of Wisdom and The Company of Mary. Worn out by hard work and sickness, he finally came in April 1716 to Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre to begin the mission which was to be his last. During this time, he fell ill and died on the 28th of April of that year. He was 43 years old, and had been a priest for only 16 years. His last sermon was on the tenderness of Jesus and the Incarnate Wisdom of the Father. Thousands gathered for his burial in the parish church, and very quickly stories were reported of miracles performed at his tomb. Saint Louis-Marie Grignion De Monfort was appointed to be a Saint on the 20th of July 2010 (Canonization Day) by Pope Leo XII.
